Session No. 4-2
Title Transborder Studies on Food, Health, and Well-being towards New Normal
Session organizer KITAGAWA Tamaki (Alliance for Research on the Mediterranean and North Africa, University of Tsukuba)
Date & Time Monday, September 6th 17:00-18:40

The necessity of coping with hunger, poverty, illness, and social inequality has been recognized as a critical global issues requiring cooperation among nations. The worldwide spread of novel COVID-19 infections has made many of these issues even more urgent to address. As the world has reached a historical turning point, it is required to change social and personal behaviors. At the same time, studies transcending borders of national, racial, religious, cultural, and gender differences are needed to establish a new normal. In this session, presentations will be made from the following three fields: (1) infectious disease risk management, (2) research on Middle Eastern and North African societies and minorities, and (3) research on innovations in food and agriculture. We will discuss what can be done now as transborder research in the age of ‘With Corona’ and how society and individuals will be in the future.
