9月26日から9月30日の5日間、オンライン並びにハイブリッド形式によるTsukuba Global Science Week 2022 (TGSW2022)を開催しました。
第12回目となる今回は、コロナ禍前の2018年度以降、4年ぶりにつくば国際会議場での対面形式を含む開催となりました。TGSW全体の参加登録者は1,310名、このうち対面会場に約250名の来場者を迎え、海外の協定校やつくば研究学園都市に所在する研究機関との共同主催を含む28件のセッションが行われました。
9月28日に開催されたオープニング総会では、本学のキャンパス・イン・キャンパス（CiC）パートナー校であるグルノーブル・アルプ大学（フランス）のGaëlle Calvary教授が、オンラインによる特別基調講演 “University Initiatives from the Smart City Perspective - Smart City as a Process” を行いました。スマートシティに求められる理念や目指すべき姿の提案のほか、学際的な研究の必要性があることを語り、グルノーブル・アルプ大学の取り組み例として、Eco-SESA (Safe, Efficient, Sustainable and Accessible energy) とMobilAir (Mobility and improvement of air quality) の二つのプログラムが紹介されました。
続くメインセッションでは、本学とつくば市との連携による「つくばスーパーサイエンスシティシンポジウム」が行われ、研究学園都市の研究機関や住民を含めてつくば市が目指すスーパーシティ像について議論が行われました。
9月30日の閉会式では、永田学長からの閉会挨拶に続き、来たる2023年10月1日の創基151及び開学50周年の紹介として、学長のスピーチのほか、本学のヒストリー動画と同窓生・留学生によるリレーメッセージ、カウントダウンボードの除幕を行いました。最後に、来日したグルノーブル・アルプ大学のYassine Lakhnech学長から祝辞を頂き、参加者全員で乾杯を行って盛会のうちに幕を閉じました。
来年度は，TGSWに代わり筑波会議委員会が主催する筑波会議が、2023年9月26日～28日の3日間「Design the Future – Curiosity-driven Quest for Global Solutions」をメインテーマに、オンラインとつくば国際会議場で開催予定です。
Tsukuba Global Science Week 2022 (TGSW2022) was held either online or in a hybrid format from September 26 to 30 for five days.
The 12th TGSW included face-to-face sessions at the Tsukuba International Congress Center for the first time in four years since 2018 before the COVID-19 pandemic occurred. 1,310 participants registered to attend the TGSW as a whole, of which about 250 came to the on-site venue and 28 sessions were held, including those co-organized by overseas partner universities and research institutions located in Tsukuba Science City.
At the opening plenary on September 28, Professor Gaëlle Calvary of Université Grenoble Alpes (France), a Campus-in-Campus (CiC) partner university, gave a special online keynote speech entitled "University Initiatives from the Smart City Perspective - Smart City as a Process.” She gave a suggestion for the principles and goals of a smart city and spoke of the need for interdisciplinary research, introducing two projects as initiatives at Université Grenoble Alpes, Eco-SESA (Safe, Efficient, Sustainable, and Accessible energy) and MobilAir (Mobility and Accessible energy).
Just after the opening plenary, the main session, the "Tsukuba Super Science City Symposium" was held in collaboration with Tsukuba City, where research institutions and residents of the Tsukuba Science City discussed the vision of Tsukuba City as a super city.
At the closing ceremony on September 30, after President Nagata gave a closing address, introductory events for the 151st anniversary of the inception and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the University of Tsukuba were held including a history video of the University, a speech by the President of the University, relay messages by alumni and international students, and the unveiling of a countdown board. The ceremony concluded successfully with a congratulatory address by Dr. Yassine Lakhnech, the President of Université Grenoble Alpes, who was visiting Japan for TGSW 2022, and a toast by all the participants.
Next year, the Tsukuba Conference, organized by the Tsukuba Conference Organizing Council, will be held in the place of TGSW at the Tsukuba International Congress Center and online from September 26 to 28, 2023, under the main theme "Design the Future - Curiosity-driven Quest for Global Solutions.”
