From the Field to the Future: Student-Led Pitching Sessions Addressing Environmental, Disaster and Energy Challenges

This session showcases a pitch-style competition featuring student teams who participated in a fieldwork-based course “Fieldwork for co-creating harmonious future (B)” at the University of Tsukuba. Through site visits to Ibaraki, Fukushima and Tokyo, lectures, and collaborative group work, students identified complex challenges related to environmental issues, disasters, and energy, and developed science-based solutions using systems thinking and design thinking approaches. International teams composed of Japanese and Ghanaian students will present their proposals, grounded in field observations, stakeholder perspectives, and data analysis. Faculty members and external experts will provide feedback and engage in discussion. The session highlights the educational value of experiential learning and international collaboration, while demonstrating how student-driven research and creativity can contribute to addressing global challenges and co-creating a more sustainable and harmonious future.
