Day 2 | International Symposium: “Art Education and Painting Techniques and Materials”

Under the theme “Materials × Crossing Borders,” this three-day session brings together art universities and research institutions from Japan, Germany, Sweden, and the United States. Through an international traveling exhibition, symposium, student-led gallery talk, and hands-on workshops, the program promotes dialogue and exchange across national and educational boundaries through painting materials and techniques.

Day 2 features an international symposium examining the role of painting techniques and materials in art education. Speakers engaged in education, research, and artistic practice at universities and art institutions in different countries will present their perspectives on technical education, material research, traditional techniques and contemporary practice, conservation, and sustainability.

The presentations will be followed by a discussion comparing educational practices and challenges across countries. The symposium will consider how painting materials and techniques can be positioned within future art education while exploring opportunities for an international network connecting artistic practice, material research, and education.

Day 2｜国際シンポジウム：「美術教育と絵画技法・材料」

本セッションでは、「Materials × Crossing Borders（絵画素材による越境と対話）」をテーマに、日本・ドイツ・スウェーデン・米国の美術大学・研究機関が連携し、国際巡回展、シンポジウム、学生主導ギャラリートーク、実技ワークショップを3日間にわたって開催します。絵画の材料・技法を通して、国や教育制度を越えた対話と交流を目指します。

2日目は、美術教育における絵画技法・材料の位置づけをテーマとする国際シンポジウムを開催します。各国の美術大学・研究機関で教育や研究、制作に携わる登壇者が、技法教育、材料研究、伝統技法と現代的実践、保存、持続可能性などについて発表します。

発表後のディスカッションでは、各国における教育実践や課題を共有し、絵画の材料・技法をこれからの美術教育にどのように位置づけていくかを考えます。また、制作実践と材料研究を結びつける国際的な教育・研究ネットワークの可能性を探ります。
