Day 2 | International Symposium: “Art Education and Painting Techniques and Materials”

Led by the University of Tsukuba, this session brings together 18 art universities and institutions from Japan, Germany, Sweden, and the United States. Under the theme “Materials × Crossing Borders,” the program is designed as a three-day integrated platform combining an international exhibition, a symposium, and hands-on workshops. By connecting artistic practice with material and technical research, the session enables cross-cultural dialogue on painting materials, ranging from historical techniques and conservation science to contemporary experimental practices. Through this interdisciplinary and international framework, the session aims to propose a new model of art education that expands the possibilities of materials-based artistic research.

Day 2 presents an international symposium examining the role of painting techniques and materials in art education. Invited faculty members and researchers from art universities and research institutions in several countries will offer short presentations from diverse perspectives, including technical education, material research, conservation and sustainability, and the relationship between artistic practice and theory.

Day 2｜国際シンポジウム：「美術教育と絵画技法・材料」

本セッションは、筑波大学をハブに、日本・ドイツ・スウェーデン・米国の計18の美術大学・研究機関が連携して実施する国際芸術プログラムである。「Materials × Crossing Borders（絵画素材による越境と対話）」をテーマに、国際絵画展、シンポジウム、学生主導ギャラリートーク、実技ワークショップを3日間の連続企画として実施し、制作実践と材料・技法研究を横断的に結びつける。絵画材料を媒介として、国や教育制度を越えた学術的・実践的対話を行い、次世代の国際的美術教育モデルを提示することを目的とする。

2日目は、美術教育における絵画技法・材料の位置づけを主題とする国際シンポジウムを開催する。各国の美術大学・研究機関から招かれた教員・研究者が、技法教育、材料研究、保存と持続可能性、制作実践と理論の接続など、多様な視点から短時間の発表を行う。
